About Us
Whangamatā is one of the most pristine beaches in New Zealand, with untarnished coastline and perfect waves its the idyllic spot for people of all abilities to get involved in surfing. Situated right on the beach front, Whangamatā Surf School has direct access to the best waves for all conditions.
We offer individual or group lessons to best suit you. With backgrounds in education and high performance sport, our instructors are local and Surfing NZ Qualified to provide the best local knowledge and a great surfing experience.
Our aim for Whangamatā Surf School is to be able to create an environment in which we can share our passion for the ocean and contribute to the continued development of the surf culture in Whangamatā.

Excellent service. Clear information on the phone as to what they offer and where to find them. Excellent coaches. My young daughters found them so friendly and easy to understand that they could learn comfortably. They both enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Totally recommend Whangamata Surf School!

Great crew at Whangamata surf school – all the team are friendly, helpful and thankfully for me very patient!
